How to Record Your Ask

Your Contribute.to Card is designed to motivate your network to support your work. One of the best ways to do that is by having a video of yourself on the Card, explaining what it is you’re raising funds for – and why someone should support you.

It’s time to get in front of the camera and record your ask, which will live on your Card as well as be shared on your social media.

In the video below, our resident curator and entrepreneur Carrie Scott shows you how to record a video that will motivate people to support your work, from finding the right location to lighting to perfecting your script. By the end of this video, you’ll have everything you need to record a powerful ‘Why’ video that will encourage people to contribute to your work.

And don’t worry! If you’d prefer to read about recording a video, rather than watching a clip, we’ve pulled together a quick handbook to help you out.

Recording the Perfect Video!

If you’re not used to being in front of the camera, recording yourself might feel a little scary. But we believe in you! Do a couple takes. Don’t be shy. Don’t worry if you fumble. It doesn’t have to be perfect. It just has to be authentic and without distractions. Happy recording!
